The Avalanche open a weekend home stand looking to snap its losing trend as the Blues skate into Denver
Since celebrating a six-game winning to ring in the new year, the Colorado Avalanche have won just five of their last 13 games with four losses in their last five outings as they open a quick two-game weekend home stand on Friday night in the first of four meetings this season against the visiting St. Louis Blues. Colorado has won six of the last seven meetings against their Central Division foes dating back to October of 2022 but have lost four of the last six matchups against the Blues inside Ball Arena. St. Louis has lost three games in a row and four of their last five overall and have dropped below .500 for the first time since before Christmas as its offense has frozen scoring only four goal in the last three games.

Since being acquired in a trade by Colorado last week, center Martin Necas has yet to score a goal for the Avalanche but has contributed four assists in three games. Necas, dealt by Carolina in exchange for Mikko Rantanen, is seventh in the National Hockey League with 43 assists this season and has 10 games with two or more assists. The 26-year-old Czechia native tallied his 300th career point in his second game with Colorado assisting on a Cale Makar power play goal in a 5-4 road win over the New York Rangers.
Despite being held without a point in his last two games, Blues center Jordan Kyrou leads the team with 42 points this season pushing the 2016 second-round pick to over 300 points for his career. Kyrou is eight points away from his fourth consecutive 50-point season and is on pace for his third 70-point campaign in four years.
