Edmonton bounced back from a one-goal loss against the defending champs that ended a five-game winning streak by beating the Boston Bruins in overtime 3-2 on Thursday. The Oilers were in a hole early against Boston with the Bruins scoring two goals in the first period. But Edmonton buckled down the rest of the way keeping them scoreless.

Zach Hyman got the Oilers on the board scoring halfway through the second period. Then Connor McDavid came up clutch again tying the game with just 2:21 remaining in the game. Mattias Ekholm made sure that the captain’s effort wouldn’t go to waste scoring the game winner in overtime just 1:04 in the extra period. Edmonton should be able to string a pair of victories together tonight as it is the -400 favorite against San Jose. The Oilers have 13 more points than the Sharks in the Pacific division as these two play for the first time this season on Saturday.

San Jose has lost six of its last seven games and is coming off a 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. Joel Kiviranta scored twice in the third period for Colorado to put the game out of reach. It was part of a three-goal period for the Avs where the Sharks were held scoreless even though Carl Grundstrom and William Eklund scored in the second to give San Jose the 2-1 lead. It was especially a sweet victory for former San Jose and current Colorado goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood who made 32 saves against his former team. The road only gets tougher for San Jose tonight.
