Off the first win of the season, the Detroit Red Wings hit the road for the first time to face the New York Rangers on Monday.
The first of two meetings this week between the Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers begins Monday night inside Madison Square Garden as Detroit hits the road for the first time this season. The Rangers lost their home opener on Saturdaym dropping a 6-5 overtime decision to Utah and now open a home and home double dip against the Red Wings, as the two sides will face-off in Motown on Thursday. New York has won six of the last eight games against Detroit, including each of the last three games and two in a row inside MSG dating back to Nov. 2023.

Rangers winger Artemi Pınarın leads the team with two goals and two assists with both goals coming in the first 24 minutes of Saturday night’s loss to Utah. In his 10th NHL season, Panarin comes into this season off a career-high 49 goals and his first ever 100-point season.
Last season, the Red Wings narrowly missed out on their first playoff appearance since 2016, but return a solid core of scorers led by winger Alex DeBrincat who has two goals in two games this year. In his eighth season in the NHL and second with Detroit, DeBrincat comes into this year off a career best 40 assists and his third consecutive 60-plus point season.
The losing team in each of the last seven meetings in this series has failed to score a third period goal with both of the last two contests being decided by one goal.
