The Anaheim Ducks try to turn it around at home when they host the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night. The Ducks have lost four of five in this homestand and five of their last six games with this game against Detroit being its last before they head back out on the road. The Ducks are coming off a very close 3-2 loss against the Vegas Golden Knights. Brock McGinn scored the first goal of the game but Vegas tied it up soon after with less than a minute left in the first period. The Golden Knights scored three goals in a row before Anaheim was able to score again which was too little, too late. Frank Vatrano scored for the Ducks but it was with just 14 seconds left in the game. The Ducks will still be the underdog even though they are at home with Detroit getting the -145 line in its favor. Anaheim is last in the Pacific division with 12 points.

But the Red Wings are second to last in the Atlantic division with 15 but they improved their fortunes in their last game by beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday to avoid a three-game losing streak. Detroit scored the first two goals of the game coming in the second period. But the Penguins rallied right back to score two more goals before the end of the second. Neither team scored in the first or third period. Simon Edvinsson ended the tie 1:30 into overtime to pull off the upset on the road.
