The Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers play for the third time this preseason when they face-off on Wednesday night.
The Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning have already faced off twice this preseason and these in-state rivals meet again on Wednesday. The reigning Stanley Cup champions started off the preseason strong with back-to-back wins against Nashville, but Florida has lost three of its last four games. That includes two losses against Tampa Bay and those games were both at home. Now the Panthers will head out on the road to Tampa to try to close this gap between the Lightning. The first matchup was an absolute offensive explosion that ended in an 8-7 Tampa win. There were nine goals scored in the third quarter alone. The last game was a bit more modest and was played on Monday.

The scoring was much more modest comparatively speaking with Tampa winning 3-1. The Lightning scored in the first and second period, before the Panthers were able to cut the score to one with a late power play goal from Sam Reinhart. Tampa was able to hold on and ice the game ultimately by scoring an empty-net goal from Maxim Groshev.
Goalie Jonas Johansson made it tough on Florida because the Panthers outshot the lightning. But Johansson earned the first star with 26 saves. It was a huge bounce back for the Lightning who lost 6-0 against Nashville in their previous game. Now each team is looking to get back to over .500. Who will reach the preseason milestone first?
