It took two months into the 2024-2025 NHL season, but Pacific Division foes the Seattle Kraken (15-19-2) and Vancouver Canucks (17-10-7) have their first meeting of the year on Saturday, in what is the first game back from the holiday break for both teams. Last year, the Kraken won two of the three games in this series but the Canucks won their lone game at home at Rogers Arena, where the two teams will play on Saturday.

In their most recent game on Monday, the Canucks came away with a 4-3 win when they beat the San Jose Sharks at home. Center Elias Pettersson scored two goals for the Canucks in that game. Pettersson is now second on the team with 28 points. Defenseman Quinn Hughes leads the team with 42 points in 34 games, with eight goals and 34 assists.
The Kraken come in trying to turn things around after the break. They’re currently on a five game losing streak, including getting swept on a three game road trip before the break. Last time out on Sunday they fell 5-2 to the Colorado Avalanche.
Seattle is led by left winger Jared McCann. He has 27 points in 36 games so far this season for the Kraken.
