In the late window of the NHL’s Friday night slate, the Edmonton Oilers (22-12-3) host the Anaheim Ducks (16-17-4) at Rogers Place for a Pacific Division matchup. This is the second matchup between these two teams this year, after they met last weekend. The Ducks played host on Sunday, and scored four unanswered goals to close out the game in a 5-3 win. Three different Ducks players had multiple points in the game, with centers Robby Fabbri and Mason McTavish and left winger Cutter Gauthier each recording a goal and an assist.

The Oilers have played just one game since. They got back in the win column, beating the Utah Hockey Club 4-1 in a New Year’s Eve game on Tuesday. Goalie Stu Skinner made 26 stops in the winning effort.
Center Connor McDavid had two more assists, and now has a team-high 39 helpers in 34 games. His 54 total points are second on the team only to center Leon Draisaitl (56 points in 37 games).
The Ducks have played twice since the last meeting with the Oilers, and won both games to extend their winning streak to three games (with a win on Friday, they’d have their longest winning streak of the season at four games). Anaheim beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 on New Year’s Eve, then on Thursday night got by Winnipeg 4-3 in overtime in the first half of this back to back.
