The Devils young core of centers Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier alongside winger Jesper Bratt have combined for 66 points through the first 21 games of the season with all three collecting 20 points or more. All three are under 26-years-old and have all tallied 300 or more points in their young careers as the 23-year-old Hughes collected his 300th career point on a first period goal in New Jersey’s 4-1 win over the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers nine days ago.
Hurricanes center Martin Necas leads the team in goals, assists and points and comes into this game after his 13-game points streak was snapped on Wednesday. In his sixth season with Carolina, Necas is having a breakout season after setting a career-high 71 points two years ago and is currently on pace to eclipse that mark before February.
Carolina has dominated this series, winning eight of the last nine contests and each of the last six meetings. The Hurricanes have also won four of the last six games played in New Jersey with each of the last two wins coming by a combined 10-3 score.
