After a hot start, the Utah Hockey Club aims to snap its losing streak while the Calgary Flames wrap up their two-game road trip on Wednesday.
Starting the season with four straight wins, the Calgary Flames have since lost four of their last five games, including three in a row, as they skate into Salt Lake City for the first time ever on Wednesday night to take on the slumping Utah Hockey Club in a Western Conference showdown. Utah likewise started with a winning streak only to stumble into six losses in its last seven games, with four consecutive losses since an overtime win against Boston 11 days ago. The low point came on Monday, losing 5-4 in overtime to San Jose in the Sharks first win of the season.

The Flames feature a trio of goal scorers with defenseman Rasmus Andersson and centers Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau tied for the team lead with four goals each. In his third season with Calgary, Kadri has scored 20 or more goals in each of his first two years with the Flames after helping Colorado to a Stanley Cup Championship. He has eclipsed the 20-goal mark in three straight seasons.
Utah winger Dylan Guenther, a first round selection by Arizona in 2021, snapped a six-game goalless streak in Monday’s loss to San Jose, taking the team lead with six goals scored on the season. The 21-year-old Edmonton native has 30 goals and 28 assists in his first 88 games.
Both teams rank in the bottom third of the NHL on the power play, as Calgary has been held without a power play goal in four straight games, while Utah has gone five games without scoring with the man advantage.
This is the first of three games between the clubs this season. They will play inside the Delta Center again on April 1 in the final week of the regular season.
