The preseason has been good for both the Buffalo Sabres (3-0-0) and Ottawa Senators (2-0-0) with both teams starting off undefeated. Both teams missed the playoffs last season and look to bounce back and earn their way into the postseason. That journey starts in the preseason with games like Thursday. Ottawa has played two nail-biter games to start the preseason, winning the opener in a high scoring overtime affair and then the second in a grinding defensive effort. Seven different players on Ottawa have found the net so far in the preseason, with Cole Reinhardt leading the way with two goals. They will will lean on that balanced attack again here today against Buffalo in an effort to stay undefeated.

So far this preseason Ottawa has seen Reinhardt finding the back of the net twice with Jan Jenik, Adam Gaudette, Donovan Sebrango, Carter Yakemchuk, Jake Sanderson and Zack Ostapchuk all scoring once so far in two games heading into today.
For Buffalo, the offense has shown signs of life after finishing in the bottom third of the NHL last season. In the teams first three games Buffalo has scored 16 goals with at least three in each game.
JJ Peterka lit up the scoreboard in the first game with a hat trick. He followed that up with two assists in the second game and was held scoreless in the most recent. Peterka is coming off a career-best season in his sophomore campaign with 16 more goals, two more assists and 18 more total points year-over-year.
