The Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins will already be halfway through the preseason after this game in Philadelphia is completed Saturday night. The Bruins are 1-2 and both losses have come against the New York Rangers. Boston most recently played them on Thursday in a 5-2 final. The game was all Rangers with New York outshooting Boston 33-24. New York scored the first goal of the game and while Boston quickly tied it up on a goal by Brett Harrison, the Rangers would go on to score three unanswered. The Bruins would finally score again late in the second but they were shutout in the third to complete the dominating performance. Boston is coming off a great season and eight straight playoff appearances. But the Bruins had one of the best records in the league and they lost in the conference semis.

This will be the first of back-to-back games between Boston and Philadelphia. The next game will come on Tuesday. The Flyers are 2-1 on the season and are coming off a 2-0 shutout of the New York Islanders on Thursday.
There were no goals in the first two periods but Erik Johnson got the scoring going with the first goal of the game in the third period. Matvei Michkov would then score on an empty net to ice the game. The Flyers didn’t make the playoffs last season after suffering a late season collapse.
