The Rangers are still only five points off the Metropolitan division lead but they are coming off a lopsided 6-2 loss against Edmonton on Saturday. Connor McDavid scored two goals in the win for the Oilers and he added an assist to notch the first star of the night. Edmonton just had too many scoring chances with 40 shots on goal compared to New York’s still impressive 34. Edmonton got up by four goals before the Rangers got on the board in the second period with a goal from Artemi Panarin. New York will still be the favorite here tonight with a -230 line in its favor.
The Blues meanwhile are 15 points off the lead in the Central division and they are trying to bounce back from a 3-1 loss against the New York Islanders on Saturday. Kyle Palmieri scored two goals including the first goal of the game with just more than a minute left in the first period. He also scored the last goal of the game on an empty net. Ilya Sorokin was great in net stopping 24 shots for the Islanders and Brock Nelson had a goal and an assist to put the Blues away. St. Louis’ lone goal came in the first minute of the third period when Jake Neighbours scored on the power play. St. Louis will hope it has better luck in New York City than New York’s Long Island tonight.
