Chicago looks for its first preseason win of the year when they face off against Central Division rival the Minnesota Wild.

It’s a midwestern showdown when the Minnesota Wild host the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night for preseason action. Chicago is still looking for its first win of the preseason tonight. The Blackhawks only have one point with an overtime loss in their last game. Not that it matters much, but they are only ahead of the Colorado Avalanche in the Central Division standings who have dropped their first three games to open the preseason. Chicago lost its last game 3-2 in overtime on Saturday against the St. Louis Blue. Things were looking great for Chicago when it scored the first two goals of the game in the first period. Philipp Kurashev scored the first goal of the night and exactly two minutes later, Pat Maroon scored on the power play. But the Blues came storming back in the third period after a scoreless second. St. Louis scored three unanswered goals. The first of which was by Dylan Holloway and he also scored the game winner in the extra frame. St. Louis ended up stifling Chicago’s chances outshooting the Blackhawks 35-23.

Both Minnesota’s wins in the preseason have come against the Winnipeg Jets. Both of Minnesota’s losses this preseason have come against the Dallas Stars. Minnesota’s last game on Sunday ended in a 4-2 loss. The Stars look determined to make a even deeper run into the Stanley Cup playoffs already starting off the preseason 5-0-0. Dallas got off to a dominating 3-0 lead early in the third. Minnesota came storming back though with a power play goal by Frederick Gaudreau and Travis Boy scored just 24 seconds later to bring the Wild within one. But the Stars were able to ice the game with an empty-goal.
