Edmonton tied the series with Calgary 1-1 after a shootout win in Game 2 with a 5-3 win on the road to steal home-ice advantage:
In the first game of the series, Calgary went off for a 9-6 win over Edmonton in a true shootout on the ice as both offenses exploded.Â
The first period set the tone and made the difference in the score early as Calgary jumped out to a 3-1 lead behind two goals in the first minute of the game and another one to get out to a 3-0 lead, which ended 3-1 after the first period.
Edmonton came back 4-3 in the second period but then lost 3-1 in the final period to end the shootout.
Then, in Game 2, Calgary got off to another lead in the first period before Edmonton came back in the second period. The difference in the games that allowed Edmonton to tie the series, is that it stepped up in the final period to secure the win.
The third period is proving to be the difference in the series so far and something to watch out for, especially if Calgary jumps out to another first-period lead with Edmonton closing the gap in the second period.
