The 5 best games on the Week 7 NFL slate

Fubo News breaks down the five best games on the Week 7 NFL slate, all of which are available to watch live on Fubo.

Week 7 of the NFL is here! Despite six teams having a bye week this week (the Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, New York Jets and Tennessee Titans), there are still six games between teams with records of .500 or better. That includes a handful of divisional games.

Which games stand out the most on this week’s slate? Here are the top five matchups from Thursday to Monday…

    5. San Francisco 49ers (5-1) at Minnesota Vikings (2-4)

    Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN

This is a matchup between two of the top teams in the NFC a year ago (San Francisco was the No. 2 seed, Minnesota was the No. 3 seed in the playoffs). San Francisco has followed up on that success, while a slow start has hampered Minnesota’s chances of getting back to the postseason.

At the same time, the teams had opposite results last week to what they’ve had most of the season. The Niners suffered their first loss of the year, on the road in a 19-17 game against the Cleveland Browns. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings went on the road and beat the Chicago Bears 19-13 to climb above the ranks of the one-win teams this season.

The Vikings have now won two of their last three games, with the loss being a one-score defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. Is Kevin O’Connell’s team finding its groove? Between that and home-field advantage this game should be closer than expected. However, San Francisco’s talent and motivation to get right after last week’s loss will probably end up being too much for the Vikings.

    4. Atlanta Falcons (3-3) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2)

Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX

In a battle at the top of the NFC South, the Falcons take on the Bucs with the winner holding onto at least a share of first place in the division (the 3-3 New Orleans Saints host the 4-2 Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night). Both teams are trying to bounce back from losses last week. The Bucs fell 20-6 to the Detroit Lions, while the Falcons dropped a 24-16 game to the Washington Commanders.

Last year, the home team won each of the two meetings between the Falcons and Bucs. Look for that trend to continue this year. In divisional games, turnovers are often key, and the Bucs have done a better job of taking care of the ball this year.

    3. Los Angeles Chargers (2-3) at Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)

Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS

The Chiefs are coming off of their mini-bye week, having last played on Thursday night football. In that game they went down to the wire with an AFC West opponent, beating the Denver Broncos 19-8. They face another divisional opponent this week, with the Chargers coming to Arrowhead Stadium.

After an 0-2 start, the Chargers won two games in a row to get back to .500. They nearly climbed above that mark last week, but lost late 20-17 to the Dallas Cowboys at home.

Every single Chargers game this year has been decided by seven points or fewer, with six being decided by just a field goal. Given the familiarity of these two teams, it wouldn’t be surprising to see that trend continue this week. In this elite quarterback matchup between Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert though, Mahomes should have the edge.

    2. Detroit Lions (5-1) at Baltimore Ravens (4-2)

Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX

Heading into Week 7 the Lions have won four games in a row – the longest active winning streak in the NFC and second-longest in the NFL. This week though they face their toughest test since their Week 1 win over the Chiefs, when they visit the Ravens.

Baltimore has won three of its last four games, but they haven’t all come easy. Last week in London they went down to the wire before beating the Tennessee Titans 24-16.

Don’t be surprised if this game is decided on the ground. Lamar Jackson leads a dangerous rushing attack, with the Ravens running for over 110 yards in every game this year. That ground game will be a big test for Detroit’s defense, which ranks second-best in the league against the run allowing just 3.3 yards per carry.

    1. Miami Dolphins (5-1) at Philadelphia Eagles (5-1)

Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC

A potential Super Bowl preview? While these teams may not be the favorites in their respective conferences, they’re certainly close seconds. This is a true measuring stick game for both sides, with Miami still not having beat a team over .500 and the Eagles coming off of their first loss of the year in a 20-14 game against the Jets last week.

Both teams are offensively driven. The Dolphins are averaging 37.2 points per game, the most of any team in the NFL to this point. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is among the favorites in the MVP race. The Eagles rank fifth in the NFL averaging 25.8 points per game. Quarterback Jalen Hurts was the runner-up for MVP last year.

On top of the quarterbacks, these teams also have arguably the two best wide receiver duos in the league. Miami’s offense features Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, while Philadelphia has A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith catching the ball.

Do the Dolphins get their first win over a winning team? It’ll be a tough test against an Eagles team that is at home, and looking to reestablish itself after its first loss of the year.

    Regional restrictions may apply.
