In the second of two Monday night games closing out Week 15, the Atlanta Falcons visit the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.
In the second game of the Week 15 Monday Night Football double-feature, the Atlanta Falcons (6-7) visit the Las Vegas Raiders (2-11) in a cross-country, interconference matchup at Allegiant Stadium. A lot of the storylines exist for both teams heading into this game involve quarterbacks. On Atlanta’s side, there’s an external push for a change at the position. Free agent signing Kirk Cousins has been the starter all year and got the Falcons off to a 6-3 start. However, the team has lost each of its last four games, with Cousins struggling in each loss, as the offense has gone from averaging 24.6 points per game over the first nine to 14.3 over the previous four.

With Cousins struggling there are calls for rookie Michael Penix to take over. The Falcons drafted Penix eighth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft back in April. Penix has thrown just five passes this season in garbage time, completing three of them. Cousins will start this game, but his play will need to improve to hold off the first round pick.
On the other side, it’s about the up-and-down play of Aidan O’Connell. Two weeks ago against the Chiefs O’Connell had his best game of the year, throwing for 340 yards and two touchdowns without a pick. However, last week saw a step back, as he threw for just 104 yards and a pick against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. O’Connell is also fighting for a starting job going forward, either in Vegas or with another team if the Raiders draft a new quarterback in the spring.
