Daniels has a couple of rookies he’ll be throwing the ball to in his debut. Washington used the 53rd overall pick to draft tight end Ben Sinnott out of Kansas State, and the 100th overall pick to add wide receiver Luke McCaffrey (Christian’s brother) out of Rice.
While the Commanders are just getting started with a new era at quarterback, the Buccaneers solidified theirs this offseason when they signed Baker Mayfield to a three-year, $100 million contract extension that included $50 million guaranteed. Mayfield initially joined the team as a free agent last year and led Tampa to a 9-8 record, division title, and Wild Card round playoff win.
One change for Mayfield will be his playcaller. 2023 Tampa offensive coordinator Dave Canales was hired as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers this offseason. In his place the Buccaneers hired Liam Coen, who was previously the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Kentucky, and also has experience in the Rams’ system under Sean McVay.
