Nevada will host Washington State on Monday night as the teams go head-to-head in non-conference basketball action.
On Monday night, the Lawlor Events Center will play host to home side Nevada and visiting Washington State as the teams meet in non-conference play. The Cougars come into their road game on Monday night with a record of 6-2 so far and will look to bounce back from their most recent game which resulted in a 77-60 loss to SMU to close out the Acrisure Holiday Invitational.
Against the Mustangs, Nate Calmese led the Cougars in scoring with 15 points and LeJuan Watts and Ethan Price joined him in double figures with 12 points each. Isaiah Watts led the team on the boards with five rebounds, all of which were defensive, but the Mustangs dominated under the basket. Washington State struggled with shooting, going 21-for-57 from the field and just 10-for-33 from long range. From the line, the team only shot 53 percent, a mark that certainly could have made a difference in the game.

The Wolf Pack brings a two-game win streak into Monday night’s home game, bringing their overall record to 6-1 on the season. The team traveled to South Carolina last week to take part in the Shriner’s Children’s Charleston Classic. Nevada dropped its opening game to Vanderbilt in a close 73-71 defeat, but bounced back to beat VCU (64-61) and Oklahoma State (90-78) to close out tournament play. Kobe Sanders had a stellar performance for the Wolf Pack with 27 points and Nick Davidson finished closely behind him with 23 points on the day. Brandon Love rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 points. The team finished the game shooting an impressive 58 percent from the field and 39 percent from beyond the arc.
Monday night’s game will only be the third meeting between these two programs with the last game being played before most of the players were born back in the year 2000. The all-time series is currently tied at one win apiece with the Cougars winning the last meeting 75-72 in overtime.
