Missouri comes off a home win on Tuesday night while the Commodores had their seven-game winning streak ended at home the same night. Missouri opened a double-digit lead in the first half on Tuesday and cruised to an 83-67 win over visiting LSU. Tamar Bates scored 20 points while Anthony Robinson II added 16 and Josh Gray snared 10 rebounds. Bates and Mark Mitchell each net 13.1 points per game while Gray gets a team-best 4.9 rebounds in just 15.5 minutes a night.
Vandy shot the ball poorly in the first half on Tuesday and never recovered in a 76-64 loss to Mississippi State. A.J. Hoggard paced the attack with 18 points, with Grant Huffman notching 12 points. Jason Edwards puts up 17.1 points per game with Devin McGlockton averaging 11.2 points and 8.2 boards.
The Tigers are 9-8 against the Commodores, who wom last season’s lone meeting at home 68-61 on Feb. 3. Dennis Gates is 45-37 in his third season at Missouri while Vanderbilt is in its first campaign under coach Mark Byington, who spent the last four years at James Madison.
