Utah State will take the court at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, for the second day in a row. On Friday evening, they will take on North Texas in the championship game of the NIT Season Tip-Off. The Aggies are undefeated this season, heading into this tournament with a 5-0 record. They opened their season at home in Logan, Utah, beating Alcon State by almost 60 points. They followed it up with wins against Charlotte, Westminster, Montana, and Iowa in the Hall of Fam Classic.
In the first round of this tournament, they took down St. Bonaventure by five points. Mason Falslev dropped 15 points and 12 rebounds with a monster double-double. Drake Allen followed him with 12 points and six assists. Ian Martinez had 14 points, two rebounds, and two assists.
The Mean Green have one loss this season heading into the tournament. They were taken down on the road against McNeese by seven points. Other than that loss, they took down Evansville and Wayland at home, Minnesota on the road, and Texas Wesleyan and Oregon State back at home.
North Texas matched up with Northern Iowa in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off and won by 20 points. They held a 13-point lead at the halftime break and broke out from there. Atin Wright led the team with 18 points and a team-high three assists. Jasper Floyd had 12 points and two rebounds with three assists.
