UMass (1-5) hasn’t won since opening night and takes its five-game losing streak on the roughly two-hour ride to Cambridge to visit Harvard (2-4) at Lavietes Pavilion on Wednesday afternoon. The Crimson come off a victory that ended a four-game slide. The Minutemen are 36-32 since coach Frank Martin arrived on campus in 2022 and finished 20-11 without a postseason bid last year. Their last NCAA tournament bid came in 2014. Harvard last played in the NCAA tournament in 2015 and participated in the 2019 NIT. Coach Tommy Amaker is 294-183 in his 17th season leading the program.

The Crimson ended their four-game losing streak on Friday with a 78-67 win over visiting Colgate. Robert Hinton scored 18 points, while Thomas Batties II finished with 17 points and three blocked shots. Hinton gets 17.7 points per game and Chandler Piggé averages 13.2 points and 7.5 rebounds.
UMass absorbed a 92-59 pummeling from Florida State at the Hall of Fame Tip-Off on Sunday afternoon. Jaylen Curry dropped in 17 points, Daniel Rivera added 12 and Daniel Hankins-Sanford yanked down 13 rebounds. Curry averages 15.3 points and 5.8 assists, Rahsool Diggins nets 12.2 points per game and Hankins-Sanford posts 10.3 points and 7.3 boards a night.
The Minutemen lead the all-time series 18-12, with Harvard taking a 78-75 overtime win at UMass on Nov. 17, 2023. The teams have played annually since 2014 — except for 2020 when the Crimson program was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic — and Harvard is 5-4 in that span.
