Louisville faces its 1st big test of the Pat Kelsey era when No. 12 Tennessee comes to the KFC Yum Center on Saturday
Louisville (1-0) embarked on a major rebuild this season after hiring coach Pat Kelsey from Charleston to replace Kenny Payne, who was just 12-52 in two seasons. On Saturday, the Cardinals face their first big test of the season when No. 12 Tennessee (1-0) pays a visit to the KFC Yum Center in Louisville. The Volunteers have played in the last six NCAA tournaments, advancing to the Elite Eight last spring. Coach Rick Barnes is 203-101 in his 10th season in Knoxville and comes off a 27-9 campaign a year ago. The well-traveled Barnes is 807-415 in his 38th season as a Division I coach, with his lone Final Four appearance coming at Texas in 2003. The Cardinals haven’t seen the postseason since the 2019 NCAA tournament.
