Nebraska is coming off a win in the 2024 Diamond Head Classic as it hosts Southern in college basketball action.
The final non-conference game of the season for Nebraska (10-2) could also be a trap game for the Cornhuskers. They take on Southern (5-7) to close out the calendar year with 22nd ranked UCLA up next on the calendar. The Cornhuskers will try to avoid the upset against the Jaguars and close out the year with a win. Head coach Fred Hoiberg has the Cornhuskers playing well after their last loss winning four straight games. Each of those wins have come by double-figures with three coming on the road or in neutral settings. The Cornhuskers look to build momentum coming out of the 2024 Diamond Head Classic as tournament champions.

Senior Brice Williams has been the catalyst for the Cornhuskers success through non-conference play and early season tournaments. He is averaging a career-high 19.7 points per game along with 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in his second season with the Cornhuskers.
At the Diamond Head Classic this year Williams averaged 22.0 points per game on 56-50-100 shooting splits. He closed out the tournament with a 32 point game and then 25 points in the championship game.
The Jaguars will try to keep up with Williams and the Cornhuskers with their ability to create turnovers and score in transition. This season the Jaguars are fifth in the country in steals per game (10.4) which has helped fuel their offense that has scored over 70 points in eight games including games of 121 and 131 points.
