After winning their sixth consecutive game by double-figures earlier this week, No. 17 Mississippi State welcomes SEC foe South Carolina to Starkville on Saturday. The Bulldogs are off to a terrific start this season with their lone loss coming in a neutral-site game against Butler in late November. Mississippi State begins its conference slate with a 12-1 overall record and a 6-0 home record as they house the Gamecocks this weekend. South Carolina, on the other hand, has won seven straight games to improve to 10-3 overall as the Gamecocks begin SEC play. South Carolina has won the last two meetings between these conference rivals, including a 93-89 victory last March.Â

Most recently, Mississippi State wrapped up its non-conference schedule with an 87-73 victory over Bethune-Cookman in Starkville last Monday. Riley Kugel finished the game with a team-high 22 points on 10 made field goals, while Josh Hubbard added 16 points and Claudell Harris Jr. and RJ Melendez added 12 points each to pace the Bulldogs offense.
As for South Carolina, the Gamecoks finished their non-conference slate with a 69-59 victory over Presbyterian at Colonian Life Arena on Monday night. South Carolina was led by Collin Murray-Boyles’s 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting wiht three makes from three-point land. Nick Pringle added 14 points and Jamarii Thomas poured in 10 points in the win.
