Santa Clara will travel, though not far, to Reno, Nevada, on Saturday night. There, they will face off against Nevada at the Lawlor Events Center in the second week of the regular season in men’s college basketball. The Wolf Pack are undefeated heading into this weekend with a 3-0 record. They opened up their season with a win, 91-75, on the opening night of college basketball against Sam Houston. Kobe Sanders, a Cal Poly transfer now fifth-year senior, led the team in scoring with 27 points and six rebounds with four assists. Later that first weekend, they stayed at the Lawlor Events Center and took on Washington, beating them by 10. Sanders, once again, led the team in scoring with 20 points and five assists. Nick Davidson had 14 points and nine rebounds as well. Earlier this week, they took on Weber State at home, winning by 30 points.
The Broncos will head on the road for the second time this season. They opened their year against Saint Louis at home in the Field of 68 Showcase, winning by eight points. Adama-Alpha Bal, in his second season with the team after transfering from Arizona, led the team with 24 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
That first weekend, they went on the road for the first time, taking on Arizona State, also their first loss. They dropped the game by seven points despite Elijah Mahi having 19 points. Earlier this week, they came back home and lost an overtime thriller to North Dakota State by eight points. Bal, once again, led the team scoring 18 points with three assists.
