Radford will travel to High Point, North Carolina, on Thursday night for a Big South Conference showdown in men’s college basketball. In North Carolina, they will take on High Point at the Qubein Center. The Panthers are 12-3 heading into their first conference games of the season after dominating non-conference play. In 15 non-conference games, they lost to just Norfolk State, UNC Greensboro, and Missouri State in the Cayman Islands Classic. They went on to beat Old Dominion and Hampton in that tournament.
They won four games in December and lost their only home game of the season to Norfolk State in their last game by three points. That snapped the four-game winning streak set by beating North Texas, App State, Carolina University, and Southern Illinois. Senior guard, D’Maurian Williams leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, appearing in all 15 games.
The Highlanders also played 15 non-conference games before coming into this game. They lost five of those contests, most recently to the SEC’s South Carolina. They also lost in December to Utah and Colorado State. In November, they lost to the ACC’s Pitt and Clemson in the Sunshine Slam, Campus Game.
They also won four games in December, picking up wins against St Francis PA, NC Central, Bucknell, and most recently VA-Lynchburg. Jarvis Moss, a senior guard, leads the team this season. He is averaging 15.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 41% from the field, appearing in all 15 games.
