NC State will look to stay undefeated with a win against Purdue on Thursday afternoon in men’s Thanksgiving Day basketball action.
The undefeated NC State Wolf Pack will look to pull off an upset on Thursday afternoon with a win against No. 13 Purdue when the teams meet in the first game of the Rady Children’s Invitational in California. The Boilermakers bring a record of 5-1 into this week’s tournament. The team’s only loss of the season came against Marquette last week in a 76-58 defeat, but the Boilermakers bounced back to beat Marshall handily in an 80-45 victory at home. Trey Kaufman-renn has quickly filled the absence of former Purdue standout Zach Edey and did so again against the Golden Eagles with an 18-point performance to lead the team in scoring. Camden Heide and Myles Colvin each scored 13 points, as well, while Raleigh Burgess came off the bench and snagged a team-high five rebounds. The team shot an even 50 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from long range while finishing 26-33 from the free throw line.

The Wolf Pack is currently 5-0 on the season, but their first big test will be against the Boilermakers on Thursday. The team has played strong this season with the closest game being decided by nine points against Presbyterian in an 81-72 win. Most recently, NC State picked up a big 84-61 win over William & Mary at home. Marcus Hill paced five members of the Pack to double digit performances. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield was one of those players with 10 points and he narrowly missed a double-double, leading on the boards with nine rebounds.
NC State and Purdue last met during the Final Four of last year’s NCAA Tournament and Purdue earned a 63-50 win to find itself in the national championship where the team lost to UConn in a surprising 75-60 defeat.
