Purdue visits Penn State on Thursday night in the Big Ten opener for both teams
The Purdue Boilermakers open up their Big Ten schedule on Thursday night when it takes on the Penn State Nittany Lions. The Boilermakers come into Thursday on a three-game winning streak and fresh off a Rady Children’s Invitational championship. They beat NC State in a Final Four rematch 81-71 to reach the finals. They then survived a rally from Ole Miss when Myles Colvin got a putback with 0.5 seconds left to get the win. The Boilermakers had led by as many as 17 in the first half against the Rebels, but let them come all the way back before finally getting the victory. Colvin ended the game with 20 points which was second on the team behind Trey Kaufman-Renn who scored a team-high 25 points. Kaufman-Renn also grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the team. Braden Smith also recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists.

The Nittany Lions will look to slow down the Boilermakers offense as they try and get a second straight win.
The Nittany Lions come into Thursday fresh off an 87-64 win over Buffalo on Sunday and are now 7-1 on the season.
They lost their first game of the season against Clemson last Tuesday in the Sunshine Slam Championship. They played the Tigers close the whole game, but just couldn’t get over the hump and lost 75-67.
The Nittany Lions had won their first six games of the season, but only one of their wins has come against a major conference oppponent.
