Oakland will play its seventh straight road game on Monday against Arkansas before returning home to open Horizon play.
As non-conference play draws to an end, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies will travel to take on the No. 23 Arkansas Razorbacks in a non-conference game at the Bud Walton Arena. The Golden Grizzlies come into Monday night’s contest with an overall record of 4-9, but the team has played several high level teams so far this season. The team has lost its last two games with the most recent being a tough 73-70 overtime loss against Hawaii at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. Malcolm Christie scored a game-high 27 points toe lead the team offensively and Buru Naivalurua contributed an additional 13 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in the loss. On the season, Allen Mukeba leads the team in scoring with 13.1 points per game.

As John Calipari enters his first season with Arkansas, he has helped the team to a 10-2 start in preparation for SEC play. The team’s most recent game resulted in a 95-67 win over North Carolina A&T before the Christmas break, marking the Hogs’ fifth win in a row. Jonas Aidoo and Boogie Fland each earned double-doubles with Aidoo scoring 17 points and pulling down 11 rebounds while Fland finished with 12 points and 11 assists. Adou Thiero is leading the team in scoring this season with an average of 17.6 points per game.
Monday night’s game will be just the third meeting between the two programs and the Razorbacks lead the all-time series with a record of 2-0. The last meeting between the two teams dates back to 2011 where Arkansas earned a 91-68 victory.
