Missouri Valley play continues on Wednesday night with a game between Drake and Northern Iowa in college basketball.
The Northern Iowa Panthers will travel on Wednesday night for a Missouri Valley matchup against the Drake Bulldogs at the Knapp Center. The Panthers come into Wednesday night’s game with a two-game win streak after beating Indiana State on Saturday in a 74-56 victory on the road to bring their conference record to 7-3 and their overall record to 13-8 for a spot in fourth place in the standings. Jacob Hutson impressed for the Panthers, leading in both shooting and rebounding with 19 points and 12 rebounds to earn a double-double in the win. Ben Schwieger scored 15 points while Trey Campbell and Tytan Anderson each chipped in 14 points.

The Bulldogs are battling for the top spot in the conference standings and are just one win behind Bradley, which has them in second place with a conference record of 8-2 and an overall record of 18-2. Drake has now won six straight games with the most recent being a 69-62 overtime win over Missouri State on Saturday. Bennett Stirtz and Mitch Mascari were the offensive leaders for the Bulldogs, finishing the game with 18 and 13 points, respectively. Mascari pulled down a team-high five rebounds, all of which were defensive, to help the team hold onto possession, which helped the Bulldogs shoot 40 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc.
Drake and Northern Iowa have a storied history and will meet for the 87th time on Wednesday. The Panthers lead the all-time series 52-34 and picked up a 91-77 win in the teams’ last meeting.
