Robert Jones began his stint at Norfolk State as an interim coach and is now entering his 12th season with a record of 214-148 and two NCAA tournament bids. The Tribe has never played in the NCAA tournament and its last postseason appearance was in the 2015 NIT. Brian Earl left Cornell last spring to take over the William & Mary program after leading the Big Red to a 22-8 mark and an NIT bid.

The Spartans ran away from visiting James Madison on Saturday night, pulling away for an 83-69 victory. Christian Ings paced Norfolk State with 22 points and Brian Moore Jr. added 17 as the Spartans shot 16-of-21 from the floor in the second half.
The Tribe played their first Division I opponent of the season on Friday night and dropped an 89-77 decision at Radford. Chase Lowe and Noah Collier scored 15 points each in the loss, while Caleb Dorsey added 13.
Norfolk State is 3-2 all-time against William & Mary and has won the last three meetings, including a 96-62 victory at home on Nov. 28. Moore is averaging 20.3 points, while Ings gets 14.0 points per game, and Tyrel Bladen is the leading rebounder at 6.0 a night. In two games, Collier has 22 points and 14 rebounds while Dorsey and Kyle Pulliam have netted 21 points each.
