Brian Moore Jr and Norfolk State will take the court against JaKobe Coles and Grand Canyon on Friday night.
Norfolk State will travel to Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday night of the third weekend in the regular season for men’s college basketball. In Arizona, they will take the court at the Global Credit Union Arena against the hometown Grand Canyon. The Lopes are 2-2 overall this season through the end of the third week. They opened the season with a 10-point win against Fullerton at home in Arizona. JaKobe Coles led the team with 26 points and 13 rebounds in a monstrous opening performance. They followed it up with their second win that weekend.
They took down Western Kentucky by just two points in the WAC/CUSA Challenge. Collin Moore led the team in that win with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Coles also had 16 points and 11 rebounds in that win. They lost their last two games, getting beat by Arizona State by 11 points in the Hall of Fame Series. Earlier this week, they lost their second game of the year against UC Davis at home by seven points.
The Spartans are 4-2 overall this season. They opened their year against Wilkes-Barre, winning by 55 points. They followed it up with a 44-point win over VA-Lynchburg in the middle of the first week. In their third game at home, they took down James Madison by 14 points that weekend. Last week, they lost to William & Mary on the road before beating Hampton on the road by nine points. Earlier this week, they picked up their second loss.
They were taken down by Stanford, 70-63. Senior guard, Brian Moore Jr, leads the team in scoring after transferring from Murray State this offseason. He is averaging 22.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Jalen Myers is averaging 11.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game as well.
