The Villanova Wildcats battle the NJIT Highlanders on Friday night looking to avoid a second straight loss. The Wildcats opened their season on Monday with a 75-63 win over Lafayette. The Wildcats shook off a slow start to get the win. They led the Leopards by just one at halftime, but finally pulled away in the second half to get the win. They couldn’t keep up the momentum, though, as they were shocked by Columbia on Wednesday night. It was a close game throughout the first half, but the Lions pulled away from the Wildcats in the second half to pick up the shocking upset. Eric Dixon scored 33 points in his season debut to lead the team, but it wasn’t nearly enough. The Wildcats hit 11 three-pointers in the game, but were outscored by nine at the free throw line and that made the difference. Friday they are looking to avoid the same fate against a Highlanders team looking for its first win.
