New Hampshire will travel to the midwest on Monday for its final non-conference game against Iowa in men’s basketball action.
The New Hampshire Wildcats will look to break a six-game losing streak on Monday night with a win against the Iowa Hawkeyes in a non-conference game. New Hampshire comes into the road game with an overall record of 2-12 so far. The team’s last time out was played against Stonehill College and resulted in a 90-83 loss. Sami Pissis scored a team-high 20 points while three other Wildcats also finished in double figures with Khalil Badru scoring 15 points. Anthony McComb III and Giancarlo Bastianoni each scored 14 points and Bastianoni earned a double double by grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds. The Iowa Hawkeyes have gotten off to a strong start this season and come into Monday night’s game with an overall record of 9-3 and a conference record of 1-1 which puts them right in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten standings. The Hawkeyes have won two games in a row with the last game being a 95-88 win over Utah. In the win, Iowa had five players finish in double figures with Payton Sandfort leading the scoring with 24 points. Leading the scoring for the Hawkeyes was Payton Sandfort with 24 points. He also led the team on the boards with eight rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double. On the season, Iowa is led by Owen Freeman with an average 17.1 points per game.
Monday’s meeting will be the first between the two programs. The Hawkeyes will travel to take on Wisconsin as they continue Big Ten play on Friday and New Hampshire will take on the University of Vermont as they open up America East play.
