Brian Goracke and Montana State will take the court against Nick Martinelli and Northwestern on Tuesday night.
Montana State will travel to Evanston, Illinois, on Tuesday night as the third week of the regular season in men’s college basketball continues. In Evanston, they will take on Northwestern at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Wildcats head into this third week with a 3-1 record through the first two weeks of the season. They opened up the season at home against Lehigh, winning 90-46. Nick Martinelli, a forward in his third season with the team, dropped 26 points to lead the group. At the end of that same week, they lost by five points to Dayton on the road, 71-66.
Last week, they went back home, beating UIC by nine points on the back of a 27-point performance from Nick Martinelli. That led into the previous weekend where they took down Eastern Illinois by nine points and took overtime to win. Jalen Leach led the team with 27 points on 5-of-12 shooting and a massive 15 free throws.
The Bobcats are just 1-2 heading into the third week. They played two games in the first week losing to Wisconsin on the road, 79-67, and Wichita State by 20 points that weekend. They played just one game last week beating NW Indian by almost 60 points. They took on Denver on the road on Sunday night in their first game this week.
Brian Goracke leads the team in scoring this season as a senior. He is averaging 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game, shooting 57.1% from the field. He is followed by Brandon Walker, who is averaging 11.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Max Agbonkpolo is the only other player on the team averaging double figures at 10.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
