    Miami and Oklahoma State will meet on Friday afternoon in the first consolation game of the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic.

    On Friday afternoon, Miami and Oklahoma State will meet at TD Arena in Charleston, South Carolina as they try to stay alive in the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic. The winner of the matchup will go on to play in the fifth-place game on Sunday. The Cowboys opened tournament play with a game against Florida Atlantic and fell in a tough 86-78 defeat. In the loss, Khalil Brantley led the Cowboys’ offense with 16 points while Robert Jennings finished closely behind with 14 points. Jennings led the team on the boards and pulled down 11 rebounds to earn a double-double in the loss. Brandon Newman narrowly missed a double-double with 10 rebounds and nine points. The team had a hard time producing offense and finished the game shooting just 34% from the field and only 23% from beyond the arc.

    The Hurricanes played Drake to kick off their tournament run and dropped the opener 80-69. The Bulldogs outplayed the ‘Canes in the first half and took a nine-point lead into the locker room. While Miami did pick up its play in the second half of the game, the damage done in the first was too much to overcome.

    Nijel Pack led the Hurricanes with 17 points while Jalen Blackmon and Matthew Cleveland joined him in double figures with 12 points each. On the boards, Brandon Johnson led with seven rebounds to go along with his seven points. Miami shot well from the line at 86%, but the team went 18-44 from the field and only hit eight three-pointers, making it difficult to keep the Bulldogs within reach.

    Miami and Oklahoma State have only met once and the game dates back to 2006 when the Hurricanes earned a 62-59 win in the first round of the NIT.
