Colorado and Iowa State to renew their matchup sooner than expected in the fifth place game of the Maui Invitational on Wednesday.
Colorado (5-1) was expecting to see No. 5 Iowa State (4-1) at home in late December as the old conference rivals renew acquaintances with the Buffaloes back in the Big 12 this season. But instead, Colorado takes on the Cyclones on Wednesday afternoon in the fifth place game at the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center in Lahaina, Hawaii. The Buffs came into the season off an NCAA tournament bid last spring, while Iowa State has played in three straight editions of March Madness and reached the Sweet Sixteen last season. Tad Boyle is 303-188 in his 15th year at Colorado, while T.J. Otzelberger has a 74-36 record in his fourth season leading the Cyclones.
