The Maryland Terrapins and Villanova Wildcats hit the court at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on Sunday afternoon. The Terrapins come into Sunday 4-1 on the season and fresh off a 71-point win over Canisius on Tuesday. They had zero trouble in that game as they outscored the Griffins 59-14 in the first half and continued to pour it on in the second half. All five starters scored in double figures and two guys off the bench did also. Julian Reese led the way as he recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The win help them avoid a second straight loss. They lost a close game at home to No. 15 Marquette 78-74 last Friday, but that is their only loss of the season. Derik Queen and Ja’Kobi Gillespie have been the leading scorers for the Terrapins to start the season as they both are averaging 15.0 points per game. Julian Reese is the team’s top rebounder at 9.2 per game and he is also scoring 12.2 points per game which is fourth best on the team.

The Wildcats come into Sunday looking to win a second straight game after they beat Penn 93-49 on Tuesday night. They had lost two straight coming into that game, but they overwhelmed the Quackers to get back to .500 on the season at 3-3. It has been a tough start for the Wildcats as they have already suffered upset losses to Columbia and Saint Joseph’s. They also struggled to score in a 70-60 loss to Virginia.
Eric Dixon has played well despite the 3-3 record as he leads the team with 24.4 points per gam and 7.8 rebounds per game. He is the team leader in both categories in the early part of the season.
