With the ninth-ranked team in the national playing its second conference tilt of the season, No. 9 Marquette hits the road to face Xavier at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati on Saturday. After suffering just its second loss of the season last weekend, Marquette bounced back with a mid-week victory over Butler in its Big East opener to improve to 10-2 overall. The Golden Eagles have lost both of their games on the road this season, with a 1-2 road record compared to a perfect 8-0 mark at home. Xavier, on the other hand, is looking to snap a two-game losing streak while earning its first conference win of the year. The Musketeers are 8-4 overall with a perfect 7-0 pace at home. Marquette has won four consecutive games against Xavier, including an 86-80 victory last March.

Most recently, ninth-ranked Marquette cruised to a 80-70 victory over Butler in the Golden Eagles first conference tilt on Wednseday. Kam Jones scored 23 points to lead the way, as Marquette rallied from a 35-32 halftime deficit to score the first eight points of the second half. Stevie Mitchell and David Joplin added 15 points each in the win.
As for Xavier, the Musketeers pushed No. 11 UConn into overtime but fell 94-89 to the Huskies in Hartford earlier this week. Ryan Conwell poured in a team-high 23 points while Dante Maddox Jr. finished the game with 22 points for Xavier in the OT loss.
