With both teams riding four-game winning streaks heading into this weekend’s showdown, SMU takes on LSU in a non-conference matchup at the Comerica Center in Frisco on Saturday. Starting with the Tigers, LSU has rattled off four-straight wins to improve to 8-1 overall this season. However, the Tigers have won six of their eight games at home this season, with a 2-1 mark outside of Baton Rouge so far this year. The Mustangs, on the other hand, have also won four games in a row to open the season 8-2 overall with a 6-1 mark at home. SMU also won its first conference game of the year against Virginia last weekend. This is the first meeting between these two teams since the 2013 NIT Tournament, where the Tigers won a second-round game by a final score of 80-67.

Most recently, the Tigers extended their winning streak to four games with a 80-71 victory over Florida Gulf Coast in Baton Rouge last Sunday. LSU’s lead ballooned to 22 points in the second half, as they held off a huge Eagles comeback in the second half. Jordan Sears and Cam Carter each had 13 points in the win while Corey Chest had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
As for SMU, the Mustangs took care of business in their ACC opener by taking down Virginia by a final score of 63-51 in Dallas last Saturday. Kario Oquendo finished the game with a team-high 21 points with four three-pointers while Samet Yigitoglu added 16 points in the win. SMU’s second-half defense held Virginia scoreless on its final nine shot attempts in the game.
LSU will now square off against SMU in a non-conference tilt in Frisco on Saturday afternoon.
