Devin Askew and Long Beach State will take the court against Ryan Nembhard and No. 3 ranked Gonzaga on Wednesday.
Long Beach State will travel to Spokane, Washington on Wednesday night in the middle of the third week of men’s college basketball to take on Gonzaga. In Spokane, the Beach will face-off against the No. 3 ranked team in the country at the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Bulldogs are undefeated this season through four games in the first two weeks of the season. They opened up the season with the first Top 10 matchup of the season and dominated the former No. 8 ranked Baylor by almost 40 points at home on opening night.
They followed it up with an eight-point win at home against Arizona State at the end of that week. Last week, they welcomed UMass Lowell to Washington and beat them by almost 60 points. Earlier this week, they won their fourth game in their first on the road, beating San Diego State by 13 points. Graham Ike leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Ryan Nembhard is averaging a double-double at 12.8 points and 10.0 assists per game.
The Beach are just 1-3 through their first four games this season. They opened up the year at home with a 45-point win over La Verne, which proved to be their only win. They have since lost to South Dakota State, San Francisco, and Portland in the last week and a half.
Devin Askew leads the team in scoring as a senior guard averaging 17.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. He is in his first season with Long Beach State after transferring in from Cal, also previously with Kentucky and Texas.
