La Salle and Dayton will end 2024 with their first Atlantic 10 Conference game when the teams meet on Tuesday afternoon.
The La Salle Explorers will head to Ohio on Tuesday to close out 2024 with their first Atlantic 10 Conference game of the season against the Dayton Flyers at UD Arena. The Explorers bring an overall record of 8-5 into Tuesday’s contest and are currently on a two-game win streak with the most recent being a big 108-48 win over Immaculata just before the holiday break. Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi led all scorers with 21 points after coming off the bench. Four other Explorers finished the game in double figures while Mac Etienne and Andrés Marrero each pulled down eight rebounds to lead the team on the boards in the win. La Salle shot an impressive 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range while also going 7-for-8 from the line in the commanding victory.

The Flyers have got off to a strong start this season, making it into the Top 25 with an appearance at No. 22 last week. The team is currently 10-3 on the season and has one Top 10 win of the season with an 85-67 victory over then-No. 2 UConn over the Thanksgiving holiday. The team has won five of its last six games, but dropped its most recent game to No. 17 Cincinnati in a 66-59 loss its last time out. Against the Bearcats, Nate Santos and Malachi Smith led the offense with 13 points apiece, while Zed Key and Enoch Cheeks each pulled down six rebounds to lead on the boards. Dayton struggled with its shooting against Cincinnati, finishing at just 39 percent from the field and only going 5-for-18 from the three-point line. The Flyers did shoot well from the line at 93 percent, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the deficit the Bearcats produced.
Dayton and La Salle have met 25 times in their history and the Flyers lead the all-time series 17-8. The last time the teams met was early in conference play last season and Dayton earned a 66-54 win in Philadelphia.
