The Hofstra Pride go for a fourth straight win to start the season against Massachusetts in college basketball. Watch free on Fubo.
With a win here Hofstra (3-0) will equal the school’s best start to the season under head coach Speedy Claxton. In Claxton’s first season with the team, the Pride started with four straight wins before losing a game. This season with a win against Massachusetts (1-2) the Pride will equal that start and set up an opportunity to exceed it. The biggest test of the season came in the Pride’s last game where they needed every minute to survive a 49-48 win over Seton Hall. Before that gritty win the Pride showed the ability to explode on offense averaging 89.5 points per game led by the trio of Jean Aranguren, Jaquan Sanders and Cruz Davis.

Through three games this season Aranguren has shown great improvement in his sophomore year. He is stuffing the statsheet with 18.7 points, 6.0 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game on 41.7% shooting from three, leading the team in scoring.
The junior duo of Sanders and Davis are also playing terrific to start the season. Sanders is averaging 17.0 points and 3.3 rebounds per game on 44.4% shooting from three with Davis also filling it up with 14.3 points, 5.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game on 44.4% shooting from three.
All three of Aranguren, Sanders and Davis transferred to play for Claxton and the Pride after not having an opportunity to shine with their previous teams. Last season the trio combined to average 12.6 points per game showing sometimes the grass is greener elsewhere.
