Zaon Collins and Fresno State will take the court against Dedan Thomas Jr and UNLV on Saturday night.
Fresno State will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday night for a Mountain West Conference showdown in men’s college basketball. In Nevada, they will face UNLV at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Rebels are 6-5 overall this season and have taken several talented teams to the wire even in losses. Despite walking away from the Arizona Tip-Off, Cactus Division, with two losses, they came back in December and picked up a win against Pacific by seven points after losing to Creighton at home in the previous game.
They went on the road after their win to former No. 22 ranked Dayton and lost by just one point, despite Dedan Thomas Jr dropping 16 points and six assists. They bounced back in their last game beating UC Riverside by 13 points. Thomas Jr leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 16.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. Jeremiah Cherry follows him, averaging 10.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
The Bulldogs are 4-8 overall this season, not going the way they had hoped. They picked up one of their wins in the first game of the season against Sacramento State by seven points. Their next win came in the Acrisure Holiday Invitational by 11 points over Prairie View. They made it back-to-back wins, beating Long Beach State by just three points in the next game.
After losing five straight games after that win, they picked up their fourth win of the season against San Deigo by eight points at home. They lost to CA Baptist in their last game. Zaon Collins leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game this season as a sophomore.
