Loyola Chicago looks for a 3rd straight win to open the season when it hosts Division III Eureka on Sunday
Loyola Chicago (2-0) rebounded from a 21-loss season in 2022-23 to reach the NIT last spring and is off to an unbeaten start as it prepares to host Eureka (0-1) at Gentile Arena in Chicago on Sunday afternoon. Drew Valentine enters his fourth season as coach of the Ramblers and is 60-39 with an NCAA tournament appearance in 2022. The Red Devils, a Division III program, were 7-18 last season and are in their 18th season under head coach Chip Wilde.

Loyola blew out visiting Detroit Mercy 87-65 on Thursday night, with returners Jayden Dawson and Sheldon Edwards Jr. matching Georgia transfer Jalen DeLoach with 13 points each. Drexel transfer Justin Moore handed out six assists and Miles Rubin finished with 10 points and three blocked shots.
Eureka was swamped in its opener on Thursday, losing 93-48 at Indiana State. Emaryon Byrd scored 15 points and Jaxson Provost added 11. The Red Devils shot just 29.0% in the loss and turned the ball over 16 times while being outrebounded by a whopping 56-29 and scoring 66 points in the paint.
The Ramblers are 3-0 all-time against Eureka, with the last meeting a 96-69 victory at Gentile Arena on Nov. 12, 2017. Dawson averages 16.5 points per game, with Des Watson putting up 11.5 points a night. Francis Nwaokorie gets 7.0 rebounds in just 18.0 minutes per contest and Moore is posting 10.5 points and 6.5 assists an outing.
