VCU looks to stay undefeated at home when it hosts Elizabeth City State on Friday night. VCU avoided losing three in a row when the Rams beat Miami last Sunday 77-70. VCU had won five games in a row but the start of the Shriners Children’s Hospital Charleston Classic was not kind to the team. VCU lost the first two games of the tournament to Seton Hall and Nevada by a combined six points. VCU bounced back in a big way beating a prominent Miami squad in large part due to Max Shugla. The guard nearly got a triple-double scoring 18 points while collecting nine assists and eight rebounds. But it was Joe Bamisile who led the team with a game-high 22 points. VCU outshot the Hurricanes 51 percent from the floor compared to 40 percent respectively. VCU is going for back-to-back wins to start this three-game homestand.

Elizabeth City State is undefeated at home as well but that won’t help the Vikings much tonight as they are 2-2 away from home. Elizabeth City State is coming off a win on the road against Clayton State by a 76-69 final to get back in the win column. The Vikings were trailing by five at half but were able to complete the rally.
Elizabeth City State outscored its opponent 44-32 in the second half with Reggie Raynor scoring a game-high 27 points. The Vikings will need a very similar effort throughout this game against VCU to pull off this upset.
