Drake and Vanderbilt will meet in the Charleston Classic final on Sunday night at TD Arena in college basketball.
The teams in the Charleston Classic final have been decided and on Sunday night, Drake and Vanderbilt will play for the title at TD Arena. Both teams are undefeated on the season, with the Bulldogs bringing in a 5-0 record and the Commodores bringing a 6-0 record into Sunday’s final.
The Bulldogs kicked off tournament play against Miami, winning 80-69 before moving on to Florida Atlantic on Friday. Against the Owls, Drake pulled off a 75-63 win to earn a berth in the title game. Mitch Mascari delivered a strong offensive performance, scoring 22 points to pace the Bulldogs. Bennett Stirtz and Tavion Banks joined him in double figures with 17 and 12 points, respectively, while Isaiah Jackson led the Bulldogs on the boards with 10 rebounds.

The Commodores played Nevada in the opening game of the Charleston Classic, struggling with Nevada, but pulling out a narrow 73-71 victory. The team bounced back against Seton Hall in the semifinal round, winning handily in a 76-60 victory. Tyler Nickel scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Vanderbilt offense. Jaylen Carey led on the boards with eight rebounds, all of which were defensive, to go along with his six points. Vanderbilt shot 52 percent from the field and 37 percent from beyond the arc while shooting 83 percent at the foul line.
Drake and Vanderbilt have only met twice in program history, with the first meeting dating all the way back to 1948, which resulted in a 47-46 win for Drake. The second meeting went in Vanderbilt’s favor with a 72-52 victory in 2008.
