Campbell will travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Sunday night in a non-conference showdown in men’s college basketball. In Chapel Hill, they will take on the University of North Carolina at the Dean Smith Center. The Tar Heels are 7-5 overall this season with one of the hardest schedules of any team in college basketball this season. They have lost five games, all five of which have been to top-25 ranked teams, and four have been to top-10 ranked teams in the country on the current AP Poll.
They picked up their first top-25 win against a team currently ranked in the top-25 at the time of the win, beating UCLA in the CBS Sports Classic by just two points, 76-74. That came after another neutral site loss to No. 7-ranked Florida in the same week. RJ Davis continues to lead the Hubert Davis team in scoring, averaging 18.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
The Fighting Camels are 5-7 overall this season heading into this weekend. They have yet to play a game in the Coastal Athletic Association. Having played just four games already in December, they have won just one of the four games. They lost to Coastal Carolina by one point to open the month before beating The Citadel, on the road, in their next game. They won that game by almost 30 points.
They lost their final two games heading into this game against Morgan State on the road by 10 points and Longwood at home by 22 points. Jasin Sinani, a senior guard, leads Campbell in scoring this season. He is averaging 12.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting just 35% from the field.
