California will travel, though not far, to Los Angeles, California, in the second week of the regular season of men’s college basketball. There, they will meet with Southern California at the Galen Center on Sunday night. The Trojans are undefeated through three games in a week and a half. They opened up their season on opening night of college basketball with a 26-point win over Chattanooga. Chibuzo Agbo led the team in scoring with 14 points in his first game after transferring in from Boise State.
They stayed at home later that week beating Idaho State that Thursday by six points. This time Josh Cohen led the team in scoring with 19 points. He also just transferred in this season from Massachusetts. Earlier this week, they beat UT Arlington by just three points at home. Desmond Claude, a transfer from Xavier, scored 26 points with eight assists to lead the team in their last win.
The Golden Bears are 2-1 through their first two games in the first week and a half. They opened their season on the same day as USC against Bakersfield and won by 13 points. Jovan Blacksher Jr led the team in that win with 17 points and four assists in his first game after transferring from Grand Canyon this offseason.
They welcomed Cal Poly to the Haas Pavilion in Berkeley next. They would wind up with almost a 20-point win in their second game led against by Blacksher Jr who dropped 18 points with three rebounds. They went on the road earlier this week for the first time this season and lost to Vanderbilt by 16 points.
