The Bronze Boot is on the line on Friday night when Wyoming visits Colorado State in the 116th playing of the Border War.
Colorado State (6-3, 4-0 Mountain West) has its eyes set on an appearance in the Mountain West Championship Game – something that would be a first for the program since the conference started playing a championship game in 2013. The Rams control their own destiny, and won’t need any help as long as they win out over the final three games. That process starts with a rivalry matchup on Friday night, when they host Wyoming (2-7, 2-3 Mountain West) at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins in the 116th playing of the Border War.

Colorado State comes in having already won four games in a row. The Rams have beat San Jose State, Air Force, New Mexico, and most recently Nevada before a bye last week. It’s been the Rams’ defense really showing up over that stretch, with the team allowing just 16 points per game over those four games.
This week that defense will be tested by a Wyoming offense that put up a season-high in points last week in a 49-45 shootout win over New Mexico. The Cowboys had a bye last week.
Coming into Friday’s meeting, Wyoming has won three games in a row in the rivalry matchup, as well as seven of the last eight. Last year, the Cowboys took down the Rams 24-15 in Laramie. Wyoming leads the all-time series 59-51 with one tie. The winner of the game each year receives the Bronze Boot trophy, which was introduced in 1968.
